BASKETBALL
ACADEMY
IF YOU BELIEVE IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT!
The Wings Basketball Academy provides an opportunity for athletes aged 4-18 to develop their skills and compete as beginners through to elite level. Players train for the duration of the year in an academy setting and are then given the opportunity to participate in local competition and trial in district competition format.
In 2018, our inaugural carnival marked a milestone victory against Under 14 Div 2 competitors, clinching the Bearcats Carnival Grand Final title from the Southern Tigers. From there the Academy expanded from that one team to now having 30 teams of elite and beginner level players in just over 5 years.
To make this possible we offer district level hands on coaching from accredited state and high school coaches with level 0 - 3 qualifications and working with children checks. Their wealth of experience in youth sports development ensures a nurturing environment where potential thrives and excellence is cultivated.
Training sessions are available Monday through Sunday, with games scheduled for Saturdays, ensuring a well-rounded approach to player development. Our aim is to produce players with technical level knowledge, high basketball IQ and a willingness to give back to the sport.
We teach THE fundamentals of basketball
The most important part of learning how to play the game is learning the proper basketball fundamentals.
What is a fundamental? They are the basic skills. There are team fundamentals and individual fundamentals.
There are offensive fundamentals and there are defensive fundamentals.
“My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength.”
- Michael Jordan
★★★★★
As far as basketball goes, I don't think you can do much better than Wings Academy. As a parent I have been involved for years across school competitions, social and district. Wings has both the knowledge and expertise, providing a great program for the kids to learn. The pathways and connections within the local Adelaide basketball family are in place to go as far as each child can.
